Enabling Cookies in Netscape Navigator and Communicator

Netscape Navigator (Version 3.x and earlier)

If you have Netscape Navigator 1.0x or 2.0x, it automatically accepts cookies and you cannot change this setting. If you have Netscape Navigator 3.0x, it will warn you about incoming cookies so you accept them on a per-site basis. Follow the steps below if you want Navigator to automatically accept all cookies.

  1. Start Netscape Navigator if it is not already running.

  2. From the Options menu, select Network Preferences.

    Netscape Navigator displays the Network Preferences dialog box.

  3. Click the Protocols tab.

    Netscape Navigator displays the Protocols tab of the Network Preferences dialog box.

  4. Deselect the Accepting a Cookie check box.

    Note: You should leave this option enabled if you'd like to select cookies on a per-site basis. Remember that you've got to accept cookies from Family Tree Maker Online to ensure access to the members-only sections of our Web site.

  5. Click OK to save your changes and close the dialog box.

Navigator will now automatically accept all cookies.

Netscape Communicator (Version 4.x)

  1. Start Netscape Communicator if it is not already running.

  2. From the Edit menu, select Preferences.

    Netscape Communicator displays the Preferences dialog box.

  3. Click Advanced.

  4. On the right side, select the Accept All Cookies option.

    Note: Enable the Warn me before accepting a cookie option if you'd like to select cookies on a per-site basis. Remember that you've got to accept cookies from Family Tree Maker Online to ensure access to the members-only sections of our Web site.

  5. Click OK to save your changes and close the dialog box.

Navigator will now automatically accept all cookies.
