Researching the family of George Prickett (1735/40-1803) of Virginia, Guilford/Randolph Co's North Carolina and Franklin Co.,Georgia. The family of James McAfee, Sr.(1705/13-1769) of old Tryon Co.,North Carolina. The family of Timothy Church (1793-1873)of South Carolina and Habersham Co.Georgia. The family of Stephen Westbrook(1756-1820)of Wilkes, Elbert and Franklin Co's Georgia, The family of Stokes George Barker(1827-1898) of Cherokee, Cobb, and Fulton Co's in Georgia and all related and allied families.

(1) George Prickett was thought to have been born in Virginia in 1735/40.He later married Mary Johnson(1734?-bef. 1785) in Harford, Baltimore Co. Maryland in 1762.They had eight children between 1763 and 1774. It is thought that Mary Johnson may have died before 1785 as the last two sons were born much too late to have been hers. George is thought to have married again to another woman named MARY and she is the one who is mentioned in later records with her son Jacob in 1804 as buying land on Hunter's creek in Franklin Co.,Georgia. Much of the information that I have about the Prickett family is derived from th Prickett family book published in 1979/80 by Harry C. Walker and Frances Garrison (with much help from various family members who were generous with their family lore.)I have over time added my contribution to this work and have included the names of other family members who have contacted me.
The Children of George and Mary Johnson Prickett are:
Israel(1763-1837)He married Sarah Hargrove(1761-1836)of Maryland in 1783 quite possibly in Virginia. They were the parents of ten children. This is my ancestral line through my mother's father's family.
Mary(b. abt. 1764 in either Virginia or Guilford Co.,N.C.)
Ann(b. abt. 1765 in either Virginia or Guilford Co.,N.C.)
Josiah(b. abt. 1767 in either Virginia or Guilford Co.,N.C.)
Sarah (abt. 1769 in either Virginia or Guilford Co.,N.C.)
Elizabeth(b. 1771- abt. 1842)
George Jr.(b.1772 in Guilford Co.,N.C.
John(b. 1774 in Guilford Co.,N.C.
As I have stated above Mary Johnson may have died sometime between 1774 and the date of the birth of the next child of George Prickett. There were two sons born:
Jacob(1785 in Guilford or Randolph Co., in N.C)
Joel(1787 in Guilford or Randolph Co.,In N.C.)
Of these children only four lines have been traced.

(2)James McAfee, Sr.(1705-1769) of old Tryon Co.,North Carolina is thought to have been born in either County Armagh, Ireland or in Scotland. He is thought to have immigrated to North Carolina in or before 1729. His wives are a constant source of speculation. His first wife (and the mother of his four children) is thought to have been named Janet. His wife at the time of his death in a water rights feud with a neighbor in 1769 was named Margaret.
The children of James and Janet McAfee are:
William(1735-1805)(my line)
James Jr.(1737-1829)
Robert(1740-1818)
Janet(1745-?)

(3)Timothy Church(1793-1873)is thought to have been born in South Carolina. He married Mary McIntyre(1794-abt. 1873)in South Carolina and is thought to have arrived in Georgia after the War of 1812 where he settled in Habersham Co.
Some of the children of Timothy and Mary Church are:
John M.(b. 1822)
Benjamin(b. 1827)
Alexander P.(b. 1831 d. 1916)married Elizabeth Sophronia McAfee(1836-1911) (who was the Great great granddaughter of James McAfee Sr.) in 1857.Their tenth child and daughter Nancy Ann Church(1874-1952) married Benjamin Clayborne Prickett(1872-1922) (who was the great great great grandson of George Prickett)

(4) Stephen Westbrook(1756-1820) is thought to have been born in Virginia. He married Annphillady Hudson(1764-1804)in either Granville Co.,North Carolina or Wilkes Co.,Georgia in 1782.Stephen fought in the Revolution and was awarded land in Franklin Co., Georgia. They were the parents of eleven children the last of which was Stephen Bartley Westbrook(1801-1891) This is the line of my father's mother's family.
