Hello fellow cousins! I work on quite a few lines of my family with my main attention to my Barton line. I have had the genealogy bug for quite some time, but don't seem to ever have enough time.
I am currently researching several lines in my family. My BARTON line is as follows: Harley Walter, Horace Byron, Ozias P., Alpheus, Timothy, Joshua, Samuel, Matthew, Edward. My BARTON line is from MA,ME,NY,OH,IL,WI,KS,MO,OR,& WA.
My line of BARTON'S branch to another line I am also researching which is TOWNE. Samuel BARTON m. Hannah BRIDGES, daughter of Edmond BRIDGES, Jr. and Sarah TOWNE. Sarah was accused and jailed, and finally released, for witchcraft, which she was innocent of, as well as her sisters Rebecca and Mary, although they were not as fortunate as Sarah and hung in 1692.
Martha (Moore) Ballard, who's diary can be found in "A Midewife's Tale" by Laurel Thatcher Ulrich, is also in my Moore line. She is the sister of Dorothy Moore who married Stephen Barton. They were the parents of Clara Barton. Clara Barton, founder of the "Red Cross" is in this line of Bartons. You can find her listed under Clarissa Harlowe Barton.
Clara Barton's ancestors are as follows: Stephen Barton b. 8/18/1774 d. 3/21/1862 m. Sarah Stone b. 11/13/1783 d. 7/18/1851 Stephen Barton b.6/10/1740 d.10/21/1804 m. Dorothy Moore b 4/12/1747 d.11/11/1838 Edmund Barton b. 8/5/1714 d.12/13/1799 m. Anna Flint b. 6/9/1718 d. 3/20/1795 Samuel Barton b. abt 1664 d. 9/12/1732 m. Hannah Bridges b. 6/9/1669 d. 3/13/1726/27 Matthew Barton b. abt 1640 d. aft 1729 m. Martha b. abt 1641 Edward Barton b. abt 1610 d. 4/1671 m. Elizabeth d. aft 1672
Other names I am researching include: Baily, Blessing, Brock, Brubaker, Cooper, Davis, Denour, Eisenbise, Garrison, Hamblin, Kelsey, Lewis, Massie, Massey, Metcalf, Merriam, McDaniel, Moore, Porter, Riggs, Stearns, Stone, Stow, Stowe, and Thurston. Some of these names are dead ends for me and some I have family information on.
I would like to hear from anyone researching the same names and especially if you think we might connect. Please feel free to e-mail me. I am willing to share information and appreciate any that might come my way. Also, please let me know of any corrections that you feel I need to make. Thank you to all my new found cousins!
I am dedicating my work to my daughter, Alyssa, my son, Christopher, 9/8/1980-9/19/1995, and my husband, Brian for the love and patience they have given to me and my research.
