Searching the Cook(e) Family of Cumberland County, Virginia, before John Cooke(died 1775) and after, through his children: Stephen; John, jr; James; Sarah; Mary; Anne; Elizabeth; Frances; Agatha "Agathy"; Agnes "Aggy".
John's parents are thought to have been Abraham Cooke & Martha Clayton. Believed siblings: Frances, William, Benjamin, Abe, jr., Hannah, & Matthew. John patented land in present-day Cumberland County, VA in 1740, and had located there by 1747.

NOTE: New evidence indicates that Stephen Cooke of Buckingham(d1810) married Mary Sandefur, dau of Abraham & Joanna[Branch] Sandefur, not Mary Branch, as earlier believed.
