These pages include all of the information that I currently have on my Ellis family plus other families I am searching for.     James Thompson was a constable in Cherry Valley Arkansas. He was born in 1880, died in 1940. Lottie Ellis, his wife, was the daughter of Robert Christopher & Mary Sue Shannon Ellis. She was born in 1883, died in 1943. They are both buried in Tyer Cemetery Cross Co. Arkansas.

    William Alexander Ellis & Effie Tyer. This photo was taken December 27, 1906, the day they were married. It was taken in Cross Co. Arkansas. My grandmother Effie died in 1929. My grandfather dies in 1958.

    Robert Christopher & Mary Sue Shannon Ellis. This picture was taken about 1915 in Bay Village Arkansas. They owned a store "Famers & Merchants in Bay Village Arkansas. They are both buried at Tyer Cemetery in Cross Co. Arkansas.

    Robert Christopher Ellis was the brother of my Great Grandfather James Alexander Ellis. Mary Sue Shannon was his wife. This picture was taken in Bay Village Arkansas in the early 1930's.

    My Father, Dallas Harold Ellis and his aunt Myrtle Marie Livesay. This picture was taken in the late 1940's near Memphis Tennessee. Myrtle Marie Livesay was a half sister to my grandfather William Alexander Ellis.

    This is a picture of Oscar Elisha Holcomb, born May 1899, died November 1927. His sister Ora Angeline Holcomb, born August 1896, died December 1983. Their parents were Elisha Holcomb, 1/2 brother of my great grandfather James Alexander Ellis and, Lula Frances Tyer Holcomb, 1/2 sister of my grandmother Effie Tyer Ellis. Thanks Maurice

    Aunt Boots, on the left, is Beulah Virginia Ellis Goad. Aunt Lizzie, on the right, is Martha Elizabeth Ellis. They were sisters to my grandfather William Alexander Ellis. On the back of this picture it says "Me and sister standing in the yard with our butterfly aprons on". This was taken sometime in the 1930's.
  • Luin & Amy Tyer Harvey & daughter Gertrude (33 KB)
    This picture was taken about 1915. Amy Tyer, my grandmother Effie Tyer Ellis sister, was born in 1895, she died in April 1916. She married Luin Harvey and had a daughter Gertrude. Amy died during childbirth. She is buried at Tyer cemetery.

    This picture was taken around 1920. The woman in my grandmother Effie Tyer Ellis. The boy standing next to her is my Uncle James Griffin Ellis. The boy on her lap is my father Dallas Harold Ellis.
  • Robert James Ellis (Uncle Bob) (28 KB)
    Robert James Ellis is my grandfathers only brother. He was born January 13, 1895 in Cherry Valley Arkansas. He died in a car accident in Forrest City Arkansas on May 04, 1942. He is buried in Cogbill Cemetery. This picture was taken in the early 1920's.

    This is a picture of my grandfather when he was 17 years old. It was taken about 1895.
  • Elisha & Lula Tyer Holcomb (37 KB)
    Elisha Holcomb was a 1/2 brother of my great grandfather James Alexander Ellis. Lula Tyer was a 1/2 sister of my grandmother Effie Tyer Ellis. They are both buried at Tyer Cemetery. Elisha was a blacksmith, like his father "Pomp" Holcomb. Lula lived to be 100 years old.

    This is a picture of Minnie & Robert Link Ellis. Taken about 1910. They were the children of Robert Christopher & Mary Sue Shannon Ellis.
  • My Great Grandfather & his brother. (50 KB)
    The man on the left is James Alexander Ellis my great grandfather. He was born January 09, 1859, he died July 22, 1898. The man on the right is his brother Robert Christopher Ellis. He was born June 18, 1861, he died March 06, 1943. Their father was John Alexander Ellis who died as a POW in the Civil War on March 10, 1865 at Stuart Hospital in Richmond Virginia. James & Robert are both buried at Tyer Cemetery, Cross Co. Arkansas.

    My great great grandmother, Harriet G. Wallace Ellis, married Alijah Holcomb after her first husband John Alexander Ellis, my great great grandfather, died at the end of the Civil War. Harriet had five children with Alijah. All of these children are 1/2 brothers and sisters to my great grandfather James Alexander Ellis and his brother Robert C. Ellis.

    Moses Pitts second wife was Ophelia Smith. Ophelia was the daughter of John Smith & Lucy Ellis. Lucy Ellis was the sister of my great great grandfather John Alexander Ellis. Also, Laura Shannon Ellis lived with Pitts family when her husband Yancy Ellis died. Jim Pitts was a good friend of my grandfather William Alexander Ellis.

    Harriet G. Wallace married John Alexander Ellis. They were my great great grandparents. Harriet' bnrother, William R. Wallace, is the subject of this file. His son, Rufus D. Wallace eventually moved to Cross Co. Arkansas. Rufus was the nephew of my great great grandmother.

    I am related to the Huey (Hughey) family by marriage. My grandmothers sister, Mary Ella Tyer married a Huey. This family is still in Cross Co. and were an important part of the community.
