This is my FTM Genealogy site with the FTM Version 8 "My Family Tree", an online tree with my core of almost 2000 people. I have over 29000 in my full file.

SURNAMES I AM WORKING ON:
Eastwood - NC (Person, Granville, Vance Counties), VA (Dinwiddie Co.); English, Cherokee (Yes we are distantly related to Clint Eastwood)
Everett & Everette - NC (Edgecombe, Pitt, Wilson Counties), VA; English
Mahnke - WY, SD, MT; German
McDonald - IA, NE, SD, MT; Irish, Scottish
Owens, Langley, Crisp - NC (Edgecombe, Pitt, Wilson Counties); English
Poe - MD, PA, OH, MI, IL, IA, NE, WY, SD; German, English, Irish, American Indian
(Poe was originally PFAU in Germany. This is may or may not be related to the Irish Poe line of Edgar Allen Poe)
Shanor - PA; French, German

I am currently concentrating on my Everett and Eastwood lines. These families seem to have moved to NC from VA around 1750, though the Eastwood line may have gone to New York first. Visit other Everett/Everette cousins courtesy of Craig Everett: "Everett Families Of The South" at the link listed below. My trees are part of the World Family Tree and Ancestry.com.

She married but never had children, but did much to advance the Poe genealogy. On Aug 17, 2000 -- one day after she turned 95, Lawrence Webb showed her this picture and she remembered it with smiles, "I remember" laughter, and warmth. I am glad Lawrence had previously sent me the photo and that I had already put it on the Internet.

One of our more distinguished family members, General Poe was an 1856 graduate of West Point, Civil War veteran, and engineer. He graduated 6th in his class at West Point. During the war he served in the infantry and as an engineer. Most of his career was an engineer. A large part of his work was in the Midwest. The Poe Locks at Sault Saint Marie are named after him. This is where he fell while inspecting them and sustained an injury that led to his death. Three of his four children died before him. This photo appears to have been taken while he was a Colonel.

  • A Boy And His First Dog (234 KB)
Randy Lee Everette and his first dog, Skipper. Skipper was a present for Christmans 1960. Photo taken April 1961 at our home in Tachikawa Air Base, Japan. Skipper died of distemper a few months later. It's an event Randy always remembered eventhough he was only 3 1/2 at the time. My dad had to get up at 4am to get the dog from a neighbor at 4am that Christmas morning. Dad wasn't happy because he'd partied the night before.

This plane was flying low to avoid radar detection while on a mission to rescue downed aircrew and crashed on the Luichow Peninsula, China. Notice the Aircrew wings above his ribbons.
  • Adam Poe, Indian Spy (Scout) (30 KB)
This is the same Adam Poe as in the oil painting, but at an older age. He was a famous Indian Spy (Scout) and fighter. This is the "original" Adam Poe, b. circa 1746, d. 1838.
  • Mahnke Family circa 1908 (50 KB)
Henry and Olive (Poe) Mahnke circa 1908 with children 3-11 of 15 children. The youngest child must be Elsie, b. Jan 1907 in Custer, SD. Grace, b. Oct 1908 in Clifton, WY, wasn't born yet. Since the family moved between 1907-1908 from Custer to Clifton, this photo could be in either location.
