The Association of Forest of America (AFA)was founded in Cap Pelé, New Brunswick in 1994 during the Acadian World Congress. The founding President is Denis Forest, from Ste-Marcelline, Qc, Canada. Past Presidents are : Denis A. Forest, Hull, QC, Patrick Foret, Mandeville, LA, Claude Forest, Vanier, ON, Robert and Xavier Forest, Magdalen Islands, QC, Jacques Forest from Laval, QC and Nicole Forest Lavergne from Saint-Pierre-Jolys, Manitoba. Our actual President is Paul Forest, NDP, QC

The AFA is non-profit association and its objective is to help develop friendly relationship between Forest descendants families, to acknowledged the contributions of our forefathers to the little history of America.

We are searching for Forest, Foret de Forest and similar surnames that are descendants of the Acadian Michel de Forest and Marie Hébert. There are controversies concerning the origin of Michel de Forest. We do not support any of the existing hypothesis for the lack of primary evidence supporting these hypothesis. One fact is sure according to Port-Royal census of 1671: Michel de Forest labourer 33 years and his wife Marie Hébert, 20, 3 children, Michel, Pierre and René are in Port-Royal, Acadia.

After deportation in 1755 from Nova Scotia, Canada many descendants migrated mainly to the United States, Canada and Europe. We are trying to locate as many Acadians descendants of Michel de Forest as possible from these countries.
