Last Will & Testament of Erasmus Holtzapple 1710-1793 In the name of God Amen, I Erasmus Holsable of Manchester Township in the County of York and State of Pennsylvania am old but of good, disposing Mind, Memory and Understanding, thanks be given unto God, do make, ordain, and Publish (and) declare my Last Will and Testament in (the) following manner, that is to Say, First I Commend my Soul unto the Almighty God who give it me and my body (un)to the Earth to be buried in a Christian-like manner at the (designation?) of my Executors hereafter named and as d-------- such wordly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me (with?), I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner: Imprimis it is my Will and I do hereby Order that my just debts and funeral expenses shall be first paid by my Executors hereafter named as soon as conveniently(?) may be after my decease. Item and Give and Bequeath unto my son Adam Holsable the Sum of Twelve pounds over and above his equal share hereafter named; Item and is my Will and I give and bequeath unto my Son Henry Holsable the Sum of Ten Pounds over and above his equal share hereafter named; Item and I give and Bequeath unto my son Jacob Holsable the Sum of Ten Pounds over and above his equal share hereafter named. Item and I give my son Erasmus Holsable the Sum of Twenty Pounds over and above his equal share hereafter named; Item and I give my son Berned Holsable the sum of Ten Pounds over and above his equal share hereafter named. Item and it is my Will that my now (dwelling?) plantation shall be sold for the best price at public sale by my hereafter named Executors and give(n) good deed or deeds thereof as if I had done myself and all my other goods is to be sold as soon as to be convenient and it is my Will and I do hereby ordain that all the money to be raised out of my whole Estate and if all my just debts and demands is to be first paid and which is afore bequeathed are (took?) of, then the (residue?) is to be divided among my five Sons, Adam, Henry, Jacob, Erasmus, and Berned and among my Daughters Mary, now the wife of Philip Wencts and Elizabeth now the wife of Henry Shock and Catarine now the (wife) of Jacob Clingman and of Barbara now the Wife of Gottlieb Fackler and Christina now the Wife of David Stein and Margred now the Wife of Frederick Hoober in like and equal shares to be for their Heirs and Assigns forever, and when my said Plantation is to be sold and then it is my Will that when the money will come in so then it shall be divided yearly among all my Children aforesaid in like and equal shares and that so on every year (until?) the whole is paid and Lastly I do hereby Nominate and (appoint?) my (son) Erasmus Holsabel and my son in law Godlieb Fackler both of the Township of Manchester to be my lawful Executors of this my Last Will and Testament; and I do hereby revoke and make void all other and former Wills by me herefore made, ratifying, allowing, and holding this for (firm?) and (effectually?). In Witness whereof the said Erasmus Holsable the Testator set hereunto my Hand and Seal this Twenty Sixth Day of December In the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety Two. Erasmus(his mark) Holzabbl Signed, sealed, published, pronounced and declared by the said Erasmus Holsabble the Tertator as and for his Last (Will) and Testament. Nicholas Hentz and John Jacoby York County for and Before me Jacob Barnitz, Esq Register for the Probate of Wills and Granting Letters of Administration in and for the County of York in the State of Pennsylvania, personnally came Nicholas Hentz and John Jacoby the two subscribing witnesses to the foregoing Instrument of Writing and their Solemn oath do severally say that they were personally present and saw and heard the above named Erasmus Holtzapfel make his mark unto and seal and publish the foregoing Instrument of Writing as and for his Last Will and Testament and that at the time of the doing thereof he the said Erasmus Holtzapfel was of a Sound and disposing Mind, Memory, and Understanding to the best of their Knowledge and Belief and that they subscribed their Names thereto as Witnesses in the presence of the said Testator and at his request and in the presence of each other at the same time.
