1. SYLVANUS1 JOINER was born 1784 in Ira, Rutland, VT, and died 30 Dec 1866 in Sycamore, DeKalb, IL. He married BEAULAH SMITH 01 Dec 1808 in Cattaraugus, Allegany, NY. She was born 04 Dec 1784 in Pawlet, Rutland, VT, and died 16 Sep 1863 in Sycamore, DeKalb, IL.

YLVANUS JOINER:
Sylvanus JOINER was born in Ira, Rutland County, Vermont in 1784, the youngest son of Asahel and Eunice Joiner. He spent his boyhood and youth in obtaining his education in the common schools and in farm labor under his father's instructions. Sylvanus married Beulah Smith in 1808 in Allegany county, NY, the daughter of Nathaniel and Abigail (Stevens) Smith of Pawlet, Vermont. Following their marriage, Sylvanus and Beulah settled in Wolcott and lived next to brother Stephen Joiner. Sylvanus was one of the earliest settlers to the town of Wolcott with brother Stephen Joiner in 1808. Together, Steven and Sylvanus purchased Lot 344 from a company known as Fellows & McNabb in abt. 1809, paying at the rate of $4. per acre. The first two frame barns built on the Port Bay Road were built by the Joiners. In 1842, Sylvanus and Beulah Joiner with their sons, Hudson 22 and Henry 20, and daughter Corinna and Madison Foster and all removed to Sycamore, Illinois, to join with their son Cyrus Joiner and family in Mayfield township. The Joiners were one of the earliest pioneer families in Sycamore.\\\\
