Levisa "Vicy" Thacker was the daughter of Nancy (Cook) Dyals-Thacker and an unidentified man whose surname was Ferrell. Nancy became involved with this man while her second husband Jesse P. Thacker was in prison. After Jesse got out of prison, he reconciled with Nancy and raised Vicy as his own daughter and she was given Jesse's Thacker surname. Vicy was one of several of Nancy's children who assumed the surname of their step-father Jesse P. Thacker. Vicy's half-sisters Sarah and Elizabeth "Betsy" and possibly her half-brother Andrew were the children of Nancy's by her first unidentified husband whose surname was Dyals/Dials. Since Jesse also helped raise these children, they were also given Jesse's Thacker surname. Vicy also had children born out of wedlock and gave her children her step-father's Thacker surname as well, thus continuing the practice of assigning her children a surname that did not truly reflect their paternal lineage nor their correct blood-line. Even though Vicy was not married, she had many children by Dr. Jasper Byrd Stewart. Even though Jasper was the father of all of Vicy's children, they initially were not given Jasper's Stewart surname. Instead, as previously mentioned, they were given the Thacker surname; however, some members of her family eventually changed their surname to Stewart, thus more accurately reflecting their true paternal lineage. For example, Leonard Stewart, who was the grandson of Vicy and Dr. Jasper Byrd Stewart stated in his poem "Trail of Tears" that he went to court while Vicy and Jasper were still alive to have the court officially recognize his surname as Stewart. Leonard was the son of Robert Thacker- Stewart and Lucinda Pigman. Apparently, having children born out of wed-lock was quite common in this family because Vicy's sisters Betsy and Sarah also had children born out of wedlock. Their children also assumed the Thacker surname. Even though they eventually changed their surname to Dials, this surname also did not reflect their true paternal lineage because it was not the surname of their unidentified fathers; however, it was more accurate than Thacker in reflecting their true blood-line.

One interesting thing to note is that the community in which this family lived was evidently quite liberal when it came to "traditional" family values and was apparently quite tolerant of the nonconventional relationship between Jasper and his mistress Vicy considering she had many children with Jasper who was a doctor and a very prominent member of the community, yet it was well-known that Dr. Stewart was already married to someone else and had a family with his wife Nancy. The standards of this community must have been quite relaxed considering Dr. Stewart raised two separate families at the same time, one with his mistress Vicy and the other with his wife Nancy, yet both families remained very close and apparently were not as exposed to a level of stigma that may have otherwise been associated with this family as a result of this nonconventional relationship. In fact, Jasper's wife Nancy (Mullins) Stewart was a midwife and helped to deliver the children of her husband's mistress Vicy. The fact that this community did not look down upon this family in an era of intolerance suggests it was very progressive in it's views and realized that children born out of wedlock should not be held accountable for the actions of their parents.

According to Vicy's headstone, she died Mon. 20 May 1918 and is buried in the Dyer Cemetery behind Congressman Perkins' home. One of Vicy's descendants married into Congressman Perkins' family. According to the death certificate filed with the Commonwealth of Kentucky vital records, she died Aug 24, 1921 and was 86 yrs old at the time of her death and was buried at Dyer Cemetery. Also, this death certificate shows her parents were John Thacker and Sarah Turner, which appears to be an error because according to family tradition she was born when her step father Jesse P. Thacker was in prison and her mother Nancy (Cook) Dyals-Thacker became involved with an unidentified man with the surname Ferrell.
