1. PETER GEORGE¹ HERZIG was born 1813 in AAUGUE SWITZERLAND, and died Aft. December 1872 in MO "see notes". He married SUSAN CATHERINE GABRIELLE Abt. 1834. She was born 1795 in LYONS FRANCE, and died November 9, 1872 in On Oak Street, Ballwin, MO.

Notes for PETER GEORGE HERZIG:
I have a copy of his naturalization papers, also court documents in the law suit against Jacob F. Garrock.

Sometimes he is listed as George Peter Herzig.

It is significate that George is not in her household. Also Dwelling 2 is Joseph Herzig and dwelling 5 is Louis Herzig.

From the scrapbook of James Carl Herzig, "I have a shallow recollection of see my Grandfather Herzig who came to see us with one of my fathers sisters Aunt Catherine Pullen" JC was born in 1872.

Note: This is just my speculation - It seems very unlikely to me that Susan C. would name two daughters after herself even by different fathers, also she was over 50 when the last Susan C was born. It also seems unlikely to me that George P. would leave his wife with young children, without a good reason. And we can't find him on any census in America past 1850. Also in writings of my mothers family it states that the newly American Herzigs had been notified that there was an inheiritance in France to be claimed. Could George have gone back to France to settle affairs there?

The probate Judge appoints Joseph Herzig as admistrator of her estate and lists the heirs as "children of said dec'd"
