I am descended from the Schwarz and Bloch families who were the first Jews permitted to settle in Floss, Bavaria in the 17th century. Mendel and Bella Schwarz had twelve children, seven of whom found their way to the U.S. between the 1840's and 1870's. Most of them eventually settled in Newark, New Jersey, but for a time there were family members in Columbus, Georgia, as well as Boston and Philadelphia. Now we are dispersed around this country and in Israel and Europe but there are still many Schwarz/Bloch descendants in New Jersey.

I am also a member of the inter-related and much intermarried Abeles/Arend, Kussy, and Lowy families of Bohemia. Not only did they marry each other, but they also married into the Schwarz-Bloch families (above). Some of the towns of origin were Scheles (Zihle), Floehau (Blsany), Rakonitz, and Petrowitz. You can see us all in the report on the descendants of Nathan Kussy. We have family members in Israel, North and South America and in Europe. Many of our relatives died in the Holocaust. We remember them here.

In my spare time, I look for my husband's ancestors. The family names are: Lubow and Lubin (Lubomirski), Sinoway, Taer (Terpoos), Novich (Wengronovich). Places of origin are Kiev, Brusilov, Radomysl.

Any help that anyone can give would be greatly appreciated. Of course, I will be happy to share information.
