David Mills McIlvain House
Built in 1801. This was the site of much activity during the bombardment of Lewes on April 6, 1813, by British vessels during the War of 1812. David Mills McIlvain served as a 1st Sargeant in Captain Davis's Artillery Company during the battle and was later promoted to 2nd Lieutenant. His wife prepared food in the kitchen for the many soldiers in Lewes during the conflict.
