A year ago I wanted to learn to use the computer. So I decided if I found something fun to do on the computer I would find it easier to use. What could be more fun than finding out about my ancestors.
I started researching the name WATKINS. This was a name I had heard stories about all through my childhood. You know how one name leads to another and another and so on......
Here are the names I am currently researching.
ALESHIRE, BARTLEY, BEST, BROWN, CAMPBELL, COBLEY, DAVENPORT, GLASCOE, HARDING, HILLIER, HUTCHISON, HUTTON, MATTHEWS, MIDDLETON, MILLER, MORRIS, NEELY/NEILY, RAKE, SERGENER/SURGENER SIDLES, SMITH, TAYLOR, WATKINS, WHITE

As you can see the list has grown quite a bit and I am discovering new names everyday. The most exciting part of this hobby as I now call it, is meeting some very nice people all over this world. I have found distant cousins in Australia and Wales. I correspond with a very nice woman in New Zealand who is researching the COBLEY name and is probably a distant cousin although we haven't found the link yet. I have become closer to my own cousin because of the research we have done together. We enjoy sharing our finds and patting each other on the back when we make progress. I have met people in Nova Scotia and New Hampshire who are researching the Neily name and have helped me figure out which line of Neily's my husbands family came from.
I have become slightly obsessed with genealogy and find I would rather spend time doing research than shopping. For those who know me well this may seem unbelievable. I get excited when I think about going down to the federal archives and looking at census records on microfilm. Thats how I spent most of my summer.
I will try and put all of my research on this web-page so that anyone out there can read it. So if you read this and see a name or place that seems familiar please contact me. We might be cousins, you just never know.
