My only map of Dorset is the one on my website showing the county as it was
at Domesday Book in 1086.
I have scanned it the section which shows Bere, as Bere Regis was called
then. It was called Kingesbere in 1280 and took the Latin version of the
name at a later date.
I don't think the village has moved in over 1,000 years, so I can say with
confidence that it was where I marked it in 1595.
