Find Family

I am researching the Scott, Stratton, Flint, Taylor Families of Virginia and West Virginia. Other Surnames are Stanard, Waller, Samples, Burks, Harris, Woodson, Rucker, Parks, Roy, Beverley, Batte, Elam, Payne, Pendleton, Davis, Epps, Royall, Tanner.

Chief Opechancanough is the ancestor of the Burks, Cabell, Davis and Venable families of Virginia.

I have combined the former report of the Descendants of Edward Stratton with a new report Descendants of Unknown Brown? Two sisters are known from this family, Martha who first married Thomas Shippey, and Mary who married first Joseph Tanner and then Gilbert Platt. Martha's daughter married Edward Stratton, Jr. (she married Thomas Stratton, Sr. after the death of her husband, Thomas Shippey, thus becoming Edward Stratton, Jr.'s step-mother and mother-in-law.) Descendants of Tanner and Platt later intermarried with the Scotts and with other descendants of the Strattons. I thought this might be interesting to researchers.

Descendants of William Waller and Ann Stanard can be found in the Scott Ancestors Book. The Descendants of Henry Eltonhead includes all descendants of Ann Roy and Ann Jones, grandaughters of William and Ann Waller, who married the Scott brothers William and Samuel. Other descendants of Henry Eltonhead are James Madison and General Robert Edward Lee. Included in the Book are descendants of the Robinson, Branch, Pendleton, Waller, Rucker and Parks families.

Will be glad to share information with others researching these lines.
