I got interested in genealogy around 1987 and have been working with it off and on - but since I have gotten FTM and on the net I have gotten more involved and interest in my family history, and meet new family on the net. Also have added to my family tree.
It`s great finding new leads and family. My Father and Mother issue 12 Children - I`m the 8th child. - they lost one child at the age of 7, both of my parents are gone, there are 9 of us still living, we have a family reunion every year and most of my sister`s and brother`s are there and some of there family`s.
My father - Frank Jerome HERSHA b: 1905 - d: 1980
My mother - Jessie Jane KINNER b: 1904 - d: 1993
4th great-grandfather Jacob Holtzinger/Holsinger b: 1758 d: 1840 Gorham N.Y. Wife Unknown - would like to find out who she was. They had issue: 7 Children - William, Jacob, John, Abraham, Polly m. Parker, Elizabeth m. Samuel Hersha and Nancy m. George Hershey -
3rd great-grandparents: Elizabeth Holtzinger b: 1790 d: 1858 m. Samuel Hersha b: 1783 d: 1844 Both buried in the Old Gorham Cemetery, N.Y. Samuel Hersha parents are unknown would like to find his parents.
In Jacob`s will the spelling of Hersha also spelled Hershey. Also in same deed papers I have Hersha was spelled both ways. There are many ways Hersha is spelled thou some new info I have gotten.
I believe that my great-grandfather changed it from Hershey to HERSHA. I also believe that anyone carrying the name HERSHA is related one way or another to me.
