  • Franz Sales Dirr (10 KB)
He was born Jan/29/1852 in Wyhl,Baden,DEU. He died Apr/6/1928 in New York City, New York, USA. I have two conflicting dates as to when he came to the US. I have a copy of his church records indicating 12/24/1871 was the date that he carried a letter to the USA. I also found him in th GTA on Oct. 22, 1877 aboard the Schiedam out of Rotterdam along with his two sisters Katharina and Franziska Dirr. They were 3 of twelve children from Peter Bauer Dirr from Wyhl and Franziska Schwander from Aldorf. Four of the twelve did not live to see their 3nd birthday. One was a maiden. 4 were married in Germany, Two others immigrated to the USA with their families, Adolf Dirr who arrived Apr. 14, 1883 aboard the Elbe with his wife and two children and Peter who arrived Jun. 09, 1880 aboard Castor with his wife and child. I have no records of where they went once they entered the USA. I believe that they may have gone to the Ohio Valley where so many other people from Wyhl went. They were farmers by trade. I have found many relatives in Ohio from Wyhl, just not these two.
