Hello Everyone.I am researching the family name of STREET in the Southampton, Hampshire part of England back to the 18th century. There are offshoots BARFOOT - same area - WILSON, from West Sussex, GRIFFITHS from Flint, North Wales and OWEN from Cardiff, South Wales (these last three migrating to the East End of London in the mid 1880s) and BANKS from Seaford in East Sussex.On the distaff side I am researching PAYNE and WAUGH, from the North and South Shields (shipbuilding area) of Tyneside (County Durham and Northumberland) in the 19th century. My greatx2 grandmother was Mary PRICE and her father was George PRICE, a shipwright, living in South Shields, in the 1850s. Some of the PRICE family emigrated to the United Sates of America and any information on this surname on that side of the Atlantic would be received with interest.My most difficult line is JACKSON. My great-great grandfather was John Henry JACKSON born in Ireland (possibly in the area of Cork) about 1820. He married and had a family (probably in Ireland ) but by the 1870s he was a widower and in the Isle of Wight, off the south coast of England, where he met and married by great-great grandmother Elizabeth Jane BARTON. He worked as a Customs Officer and later as a Prison Officer. His father was David JACKSON, an Excise Officer. Any information about his first family would be gratefully received.I would be willing to help with research in the Southampton, Hampshire area of England.
