Mary Taffet - Maternal lines include: Boice, Gibbons, Mathews, Yancey [too many to list them all]; Paternal lines include: Bemis, Dresser, Mann, McClosky, Moses, Skelly, Smith, Woodson [too many to list them all] Steven Taffet - Surnames: Blumberg/Bloomberg, Goldblatt, Hashinsky, Homlevsky > Hummel, Landau, Rubin, Siegel, Taffet
I am currently most interested in information about the Dresser, Skelly, McClosky, Moses, Homlevsky, Siegel and Taffet families. I would be interested in any additional information that you might have to share with me that could help me fill in the blanks. DRESSER:
I am interested in finding the birthdate, birthplace and parents of Joseph Dearborn Dresser. He was probably born in Maine sometime between 1819 and 1830; most likely ~1820. Joseph Dearborn Dresser married Susan Almira Smith, daughter of Eli Smith and Clarissa Bemis of Lyndon, Vermont. Their children include my great-grandfather, Frank Joel Bemis Dresser who married Delia B. McCloskey (or Bridget Delia McCloskey) in Montreal in 1878.
McCLOSKY/SCALLY, SCULLY, SCARLEY or SKELLY:
My great-grandmother Delia/Bridget/Brigette McClosky was born in Repentigny, Quebec, Canada on November 29, 1855. Delia's brothers include Bernard, Patrick, William & Archibald. Delia's sisters include Mary, Susan, Jane, Rose Ann, Ellen, and possibly an oldest sister named Catherine. Their parents were Archibald McClosky and Mary Scally/Scully/Scarley/Skelly, who were both deceased when Frank and Delia were married in 1878 at Mary Queen of the World in Montreal. The family came to Montreal from Ireland aboard the ship Christina sometime prior to June 1847. I am most interested in learning the parentage of Archibald McClosky and in identifying the true maiden surname of Mary Scally, along with when Mary died.
MOSES:
Searching for all known descendants of Johann Adam Moses and Maria Catherina Mueller; he was born in 1709 and she in 1713/1714; they came to America on board the "Loyal Judith" 9/02/1743, settling in or near Chester County, Pennsylvania. Their 9 children include Johann Peter, Maria Friederica, Anna Catherina 'Caty' or 'Coty', Johan Jacob 'Jacob', Johannes 'John', Heinrich 'Henry', Peter, Adam and Maria Engel. The family were founding members of St. Peter's Lutheran (Chester Springs). [Thanks to the many individuals who have provided info on their descendants so far.]
Notes:
1) Much of the data for three of these reports came from my uncle, Rev. James H. Boice, Jr.
2) I generally remove all suffixes (I, II, III, Jr., Sr., etc.), but have recently begun keeping them where they are legitimately part of the name.
