| This line of TAYLORs is well documented starting with Lemuel Taylor (b: Jan 1, 1799 in Robeson County, NC) and his wife Elizabeth Phillips, b: 1804. Sons Willis (Co E, 51st Regiment, NC Troops), John and Henry, and their cousin John Whitney PICKNEY, (Co A, 46th Regiment) served in the Civil War, all enlisting from Robeson County except Willis, the eldest son who enlisted in Richmond, VA the month after John died in Front Royal, VA. Henry's son, Henry Jr. married Rosa Lee MCPHAIL. Her father, John L. McPhail also served with the 50th Regiment. Other family lines of interest include ANDREWS, HARDIN, MEAR(E)S and WISHART of Robeson County, NC, GRAINGER of SC, and OWEN of AL, among others. Currently looking for additional information on Lemuel Taylor's ancestors. Reputedly, his grandfather Henry married Nancy Wilson and his father, also a Henry, was listed as a member of the Wilmington District Militia in the Revoulutionary War and married Jane Cook in the mid to late 1700's. Research then leads to William Taylor on the Eastern Shore of VA in the early 1700s, all unsubstantiated. Also looking for: Additional information on Hershal Owen (b: abt 1849) and his wife Elizabeth Eugenia Howell, resided in Geneva, AL about six miles from the FL state line. Arthur and Hannah Grainger, whose son George Morrow Grainger was born abt 1845 in Horry County, SC. Would welcome the opportunity to exchange information on any of the families. Please visit The Taylors of Robeson County to see some of the photos and documents in my collection. - jt |
