| Ferdinand VILLEROT emigrated from Le Havre, France aboard the Probus. He landed with 12 other relatives in New York on January 18, 1848. He then came to Greenfield Twp, Wayne Co. Michigan, USA. His wife was Clotilda DAVID. Their nephew was Xavier VILLEROT married to Celestine YOUPANCE and they had Edward G. (b1855) who married Adele BOINAY (BONNAY?) in 1881. Edward and Adele had Henry (b1884) who married Mary Catherine O'BRIEN (b1886)in Detroit in 1912. They had ten children. I am their granddaughter. Louis CHALIFOUX married Ezilda VIGIARD in 1879 in Willimantic, Connecticut (( boy, would I love to get acopy of that certificate!)) and had Henry Silas (b1896 in Fitchburg, Massachusetts) who married Janet ALLAN (b1895 in Glasgow, Scotland). Both Henry and Janet came to Detroit, Michigan after WWI. They married in December of 1921. Apparently, there was a Paul CHALIFOU, who came from France to Quebec in the 1640s. He had 14 children and we may be descended from one of his sons but I have yet to find the "missing link." The tree below has a lot of the information I have garnered from the state archives. VILLEROT is my paternal line and CHALIFOUX is my maternal line. Any help that anyone can give me would be great and I'll be happy to share what I can. Thank you! I've made trips to the Library of Michigan here in Lansing and found a wealth of information on the early Chalifou (r)(x) families of Quebec. BUT I still can't seem to make the connection to my Louis but I'm trying. I've put as much of it into a FTMkr format and have it online to share with all the fellow 'hunters' out there. Any discrepancies? Please let me know! Updated June 18, 2001. |
