Front and side view of the John P. Parker House in Ripley, Brown, Ohio. John P. Parker was an Af-Am conductor on the UGRR, he bought his freedom and settled in Ripley, Ohio where he was a businessman, inventor and entrepreneur. He is credited with assisting more than 1,000 slaves make their way to freedom. His house is located on Front Street which is on the shoreline of the Ohio River directly across from Mason County, KY. John P. Parker and the Rev. John Rankin were believed to have collaborated in this local UGRR effort. Picture taken in 2003. I'm not related to either Rankin or Parker.
