Stephen Treacle, born April 13, 1741 in Maryland. Ruth Orpha Hooker, aka Orpha, was born July 27, 1751. Ruth is the daughter of Richard Hooker and Martha (Barney) of Baltimore Co., MD. Thomas Treacle, son of Stephen born January 19, 1764 Stephen Treacle signed in favor of the 1768 Joppa Petitions of Baltimore County, MD. The petition asked Baltimore County adult male residents over the age of 18 to sign pro or con for Baltimore to become the county seat. Stephen and Orpha marry, June 19, 1778 in Maryland. May 1, 1780, Fayette Co, was formed from Kentucky Co, VA. Kentucky Co., discontinued in 1780 and became Fayette, Jefferson and Lincoln Cos, KY. Oct. 17, 1785, Bourbon Co., (Fayette Co), KY formed. Nov. 5, 1788, Mason Co., (Bourbon Co), KY formed. On July 27, 1790, Stephen appears as a Grantee at Mason county courthouse, KY to purchase the sale of two lots in the town of Washington, Mason Co., owned by William & Sarah Wood. On Dec. 10, 1790, Stephen again appears in the above named court to provide description for the transaction of property between two parties. On Sept. 2, 1791, Stephen appears as a witness regarding the sale of land. Stephen Treacle appears on tax list for Floyd Co., KY. Floyd Co., was then the tax list of District No. 1 of Mason County, KY. Stephen also is listed as a Trustee for the town of Washington, Mason County, KY. On Jan 22, 1793, Stephen appears as the grantee to transact the sale of lot in Washington, Mason Co., grantor is David Floro of Mason Co, KY. On July 23, 1793, Stephen appears in court as the grantee to transact the sale of lots in Washington, Mason Co., grantors are Robert & Charity Flora. Grantee Thomas Treacle of Mason Co., appears in court and description states: part of Treasury warrant in name of Benjamin Roberts, grantor is Jacob Myers of Lincoln Co., KY and an attorney to convey land in Mason Co., witness is Stephen Treacle. On Aug. 27, 1793, both parties appear in court to transact the sale of land in Mason Co. Stephen is listed on the Ordinary (Tavern) licenses for Mason Co., KY. Stephen possibly operated "Treacle Tavern" as the innkeeper. On Dec. 22, 1795, Stephen is associated (capacity unknown) with the sale of property between grantor, James Edwards of Mason Co., and grantee John Gutridge also of Mason co. Stephen renews yearly Ordinary license. Thomas, son of Stephen, marries Anne Logan on May 4, 1796. Marriage is listed in the Mason Co., KY, court records and the marriage return was filed by Rev. William Wood, Baptist Minister. On Jan. 7, 1796, Stephen appears in court amongst other Trustees for Mason Co., regarding the sale of a lot in Washington. On March 26, 1795, Stephen and Orpah Treacle of town of Washington, Mason Co., appear as grantors to transact the sale of lots #103, 104 for 24 pounds and six shillings in Washington too grantee Charles Gallagher of Mason Co. On March 28, 1803, Stephen appears as a witness regarding the sale of a parcel of land in Mason Co., and on July 12, 1803, regarding a transaction over debts. On Dec. 1, 1803, the sale of 1 brick house and lot in Washington, Mason Co, mentions lot deeded from Stephen Treacle to McConnell & Findley, grantor Lucus sullivant of Franktinton in co. of Franklin, Ohio to grantee Philemon Thomas of Mason Co. On Feb. 20, 1805, Stephen appears at Mason Co. courthouse regarding the revocation of power of attny of Adam Beatty of Mason Co; also revoke authority given for bond drawn on Lucas Sullivant and Stephen Treacle, grantor Adam Calderwood and grantee Colonel John Edwards, attny. On Sept. 2, 1805, Stephen is mentioned to receive$100 owed to him, grantor John Kenton of Mason Co. and grantee Simon Kenton of Champaigne Co., Ohio. On Feb. 10, 1809, Stephen appears in court regarding the transaction of estate land. On Dec. 16, 1809, Stephen appears as grantee and higher bidder regarding the estate land of William Morris. On May 13, 1813, Stephen & Orpha Treacle deed lots Nos. 107 & 108 in the town of Washington in Mason Co., to Edward Ball of Mason Co., KY. Stephen dies August 15, 1814, and is buried at Washington Baptist Cemetery. The Trustees of the town of Washington, Mason Co, KY list the head of families who own a fire bucket. Mrs. Treacle is listed as having 2. Orpha appears on the 1820 Census for Mason County, Kentucky. Thomas appears on the 1820 Census for Fleming County, KY.
