It is not known what became of his two younger children, Annie and Early, by Sally, although an article in the Canton Register of October 14, 1881 mentions them both:

"Little Annie Cruisen, who is living with her uncle, J. S. Whitnah, came near losing her life on Thursday last. She and her little brother Early were playing hangman...(which) would have caused death had it not been for her brother giving the alarm to Mrs. Whitnah, who went to her rescue, and found her hanging, apparently dead.....The girl lay in an unconscious condition....until the next morning, and only by good nursing was her life saved."
