| Morgan County, Alabama, is right in the middle of the beautiful Tennessee Valley! There are several different Vest Family Groupsresiding in Morgan County. I know this is a very personal way--you see my brother, John Randal Vest, married a Vest! Anyway, back to the geography lesson. The largest cities in Morgan County are: Decatur and Hartselle. Decatur is about a 30 minute drive from Huntsville, Alabama. If you have specific questions about Morgan County, such as where to write for records; locations of churches and cemeteries; or want me to look someone up in the local phone directory for you, just let me know! I am researching my family tree for a gift for my children. The largest "branch" that I am working on is the Vest Family. I am the great-grand-daughter of John Milton Vest who married Sinia Alice Brumbelow in the late 1890s. John Milton was the son of James David Vest and Femelia A. Robinson. James' father was William Vest. William married Anne B. Crow. William's father was Robert Vest, the son of George Vest. I believe that George's father was John Vest, born around 1705. I still have lots of work to do. I just started compiling everything in my FTM program. When I finish, I will put the tree here! A very personal thought or two: It is important to know where we came from--I'm "addicted" to this endeavor, but it is more important to know where we're going!
