Known as the Photo Detective, Maureen is an internationally known expert in photo identification, photo preservation and family history. She knows how to find the family history in your photographs.
Ken Hess was inspired by his mother, the family genealogist, to create Family Tree Maker. That was 30 years ago in 1989. His book Bootstrap tells in riveting detail how Family Tree Maker was created and became the best selling family history software of all time.
Blaine Bettinger, Ph.D., J.D., is a professional genealogist specializing in DNA evidence and the author of the long-running blog The Genetic Genealogist. He frequently gives presentations and webinars about the use of DNA to explore their ancestry.

Meet Duff Wilson
Duff Wilson is known in our circles as the "Father of Modern Family Tree Maker," having designed every new Ancestry edition of the product for more than a decade. Duff is presenting two conference sessions at RootsTech again this year – on Thursday and Friday.

Meet Plug-in Authors
Using his background in applied computer science Stefan has created Family Book Creator, the first Family Tree Maker plug-in. He started using Family Tree Maker in 1999 and now has 16 years of experience in genealogy.
Pierre founded Progeny in 1995 and has been helping people tell the story of their family. He has been working in genealogy since 1972 when his grandfather gave him a copy of the family tree. Pierre has been programming since 1965, and loves the graphical display of information.
Family Discovery Day
Family Discovery Day, which will be held on Saturday, February 29th, is a day when the conference will be free to the public. There will be a special Family Discovery Day general session, specific class sessions geared towards children and families, and fun activities in the Expo Hall and around the convention center.
