I have, with a lot of help, been able to research my Boyd ancestors and in the process, found a lot of cousins or they have found me.
I am descended from James Boyd, spouse unknown through his son, James Sr., who married Anna Maria Yowler, then through their son James who married Catherine Engle. My great-grandfather was Jacob Bloom Boyd, son of James Jr./Catherine Engle. The family originated in Ireland or Scotland. James Jr., along with his wife and their first 4 children moved from Pennsylvania to Ohio, where the next 3 children were born, finally settling in Indiana, where their next 11 children were born, among them Jacob Bloom Boyd. He and some of the siblings went on to settle in Iowa, Kansas and other parts of the country. If you think you may belong to this family, please contact us. The outline descendent trees, found at the links below, will only have a limited number of generations to protect the privacy of those living. Further information about these lineages can be had by contacting me at the above e-mail address.
In getting all this information, I have learned that education was of utmost importance to the Boyd families. There were and are a number of teachers throughout the years and into the present generations.
Also I have learned that some of the Boyds were musically inclined. Others had a penchant for writing poetry. Are there any educators, musicians or poets in your family?
It also became apparent that a sense of humor is another Boyd trait. :+]
Some of the other surnames you will find here are BOND, CARNAHAN, ENGLE, GRAFF, LINDERMAN, SAUM, SHOCK, WARNECKE, YOWLER, WEIMER. We have recently been blessed with further information concerning the Engle/Engels ancestors. An Engle cousin, Adelle Crouch, spent time in France with a French cousin, Henri Engels, and took a tour of Klingenthal, France.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has helped me get this far with my Boyd lineage.
First and foremost, I thank God that I have been able to do this.
Then I wish I could thank my Aunt Hilda Sullivan for encouraging me...she not only got information that I probably never could have, but was always interested in my progress. Aunt Hilda passed away in 1997. Thanks also to all my other aunts and cousins for updating their own information. Thanks to Barbara Boyd Stewart for the information on her branch, all the links on this page, and her unwavering faith that I can do anything!! Thank you Merikay Mestad, Vern Shock, Sr., John Boyd, Scott & Roxanne Boyd, Tim Corcoran, Wanda Linderman Garner, Karin King, Peggy Salvail, for all of your own branches of this Boyd family. Thanks too, to Richard Boyd for furnishing us with one of the Boyd Coats of Arms. A special thank you goes to Kenneth Engle and his wife Carol, cousin Adelle Crouch for getting pictures in France and to Henri Engels for helping to further our research and contributing his own lineage. If I have forgotten anyone, I apologize.
As with all family trees that have relied upon the help of others for its completion, there can, and most likely will be, mistakes. This is unintentional and any mistakes found will be corrected if you would be kind enough to e-mail me and alert me to the mistake(s).
I hope you come back and visit often as there will be changes periodically.
Please enjoy the poetry which can be found via the links below, but please do not use any of the poems without permission from either Barbara Boyd Stewart at BAS33@webtv.net or Beverly Bond at the e-mail address above.
God Bless each and every one of you.
