* Hottua (Hottois)*

Updated June 14, 2002

The Hottua's (French spelling: Hottois) are from Feulen, Luxembourg and were "Hufschmieds" (hoof-smiths) or horseshoers. When they emmigrated to America, several were "Grobschmieds" or blacksmiths. Read the GREAT story from Frank about Pierre Hottua (b. 1779), the mad blacksmith.

This information was compiled with the assistance of Suzanne Bunkers and Frank Schumacher. TONS of thanks to both of them.

Please, use this as a reference but don't take it as the Gospel. My French is rusty, I can only guess at the German and their handwriting was HORRIBLE! If you can read the old handwritten German documents, let me know. I've got a couple that I badly need translated.

I know that there are errors (like Catherine Glasener who has a child 6 months after she passes away) but I have tried to make this as accurate as I can. Feel free to contact me with questions or corrections.

There are 2 main family lines detailed here that are in serious need of a common link. There are also a few miscellaneous people that need to be linked to their families.

The lines are:
Michel Hottua m. Catherina Klein (my family line)
Michel Hottua (Hottois)(1769 - ?) m. M. Catharine Petit (Suzanne & Frank's)

Miscellaneous Hottuas that still need to be linked:

Elisabetha Hottua b. February 11, 1861
Elizabeth Hottua b. June 11, 1856 m. Peter Eltgroth
Henry Hottua m. Emma Lechner
Jean Hottua b. 1844
Nicholas A Hottua 1881-1954
Catherine (Ketty?)(Blum) Hottua 1903-1987
Marie Anna Hottua m. Nikolaus Berlingen
A random Pierre & Henry Hottua

Also, if anyone is related to Nick Hottua from California, I would be interested in knowing more.

Thanks.
